Among the earliest-recovered fluorites from Yaogangxian, these “very old YGX” porcelain specimens represent a generation of material that preceded the mine’s most famous blue and milky varieties — rarer, and increasingly coveted by serious collectors.
Each specimen displays a distinct character: beveled and etched cubic forms, or stepped crystal faces, embedded within sparkling needle quartz clusters. The fluorite presents in shades of clear to soft purple, accented by wispy pyrite dust inclusions and faint calcite traces. The interplay of matte porcelain fluorite against glittering quartz points creates a captivating contrast — sculptural and luminous at once.
Sourced from the Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan Province, China — one of the world’s preeminent fluorite localities, celebrated for crystal perfection and remarkable mineralogical variety. These older-generation specimens are no longer routinely available from this mine, making their provenance particularly significant.
